Tryst with Time

Sunday. Yet another day after a Saturday. A day where the mind would like to float in calming thoughts, but like always, is punctured with the dawn of the next week. The forthcoming day, the cluttered hours, the vague minutes merging into each other, seconds slipping by, each waving a tearful goodbye to this human who has not acknowledged their presence. Who hasn't allowed their time to linger in silence or peace. Who has, and quite disparagingly, bid them farewell without a proper reception.

After a few seconds condense to hours, the human is obligated to look at their time-piece, and expresses surprise, and most often a burdening sadness. They are aghast at how the hours' hand had mustered enough speed and swept the region of the clock which was to in fact last until eternity. The minute hand follows; unforgiving, unyielding, defying need & laments issuing from the human. The stark difference between the perception of passing time & "time" in its purest elements is appalling. Why should I hold the unhappy responsibility of reminding the absolutely negligent human of the passing hours. It only colors the already gray day with darker hues.

As the evening approaches, Sunday turns into a prelude to a mournful monday. Every passing moment is spent dreading the next. But who am I to judge, I am here to nudge. Sorry. I was created by humans to help them keep a track of "time"; when to wake up, read, bathe, eat, nap, work or in fact speak to a loved one. Already responsible for their entire day and life, am I also expected to lend them a shoulder to cry on when they realize that they have whiled away "hours". No, sir! I will happily go about my business of mechanically clicking the hands that I have imbued. It is on the human to pass me a watchful eye, and smile at any hour of any day of any year.

In that second, celebrate. In that minute, celebrate the expanse of seconds. On that day, celebrate life. Action on a task undone. Believe. Catch a breadth. Dread nothing. Enlighten another fellow being. Fawn over a pup. Grow. Heal.
